Replies to Questions

Question 1:

How do I play the audio?

Answer:

To play an audio tap the audio's icon. 7 Minute Self Help uses minimal data, but to successfully play the audios you need access to internet with a stable working data or wifi connection (1mbsp + recommended). Audio will not play if your data connection is too slow when you click an icon.

Question 2:

I cannot hear any sound from my device.

Answer:

There could be several reasons why you are not able to hear sound when audio should be playing. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check your device's volume settings to make sure it is not set to mute or low volume.

2. Close/clear all browser tabs that you are not currently using. People often leave large numbers of tabs open in their web browser even though they are not using them. Those open tabs consume very important resources on your device such as memory and storage. Clearing down unused tabs in your web browser can solve many browser related problems and may well solve your sound issue.

3. Restart your device. Restarting your device frees up its system resources and it may well resolve the issue.

4. Try playing some audio from a different source (eg spotify or youtube). This will allow you to determine if the issue is specific to a particular audio file or source.

5. Update your device's audio drivers to ensure they are up to date.

6. 7 Minute Self Help uses minimal data, but to successfully listen you need access to internet with a stable working data or wifi connection (1mbsp + recommended). Audio will not play if your data connection is too slow when you click an icon.

7. Be sure that your device is NOT connected over bluetooth to something such as your car radio upon which the volume is turned down.

If none of these steps resolve the issue you may need to contact us for further assistance.

Question 3:

The audio stops playing after my phone screen locks. What can I do to stop this?

Answer:

To prevent the audio from stopping when your phone locks, you can try the following solutions:

1. Try using a web different browser. Some web browsers are designed to keep playing audio even when the screen is off.

2. Keep the screen on while playing audio: Some phones have an option to keep the screen on while audio is playing. Look for a “Stay awake” or similar setting in the display or screen settings and enable it.

3. Set your phone so that it does not lock for ten minutes.

4. Disable battery optimization for the browser app: Go to Settings > Battery > Battery optimization, then find the browser app and select “Don’t optimize”. This will prevent the app from being put to sleep when the screen is off.

Question 4:

The audio stops playing after my tablet screen locks. What can I do to stop this?

Answer:

1. Try using a web different browser. Some web browsers are designed to keep playing audio even when the screen is off.

2. Keep the screen on while playing audio: Some tablets have an option to keep the screen on while audio is playing. Look for a “Stay awake” or similar setting in the display or screen settings and enable it.

Question 5:

Why can I can I not sign up for membership?

Answer:

Membership is not available in all locations. If you have access to the free audio then you can use it of course.

Question 6:

Do you take regular payments for membership?

Answer:

No. If you bought a subscription it was a one off payment and it will not automatically renew. You get the amount of time purchased and then if you want more then you can choose to buy it. This puts you totally in control. It ensures that you will not be charged a penny unless you actually want to buy more months of access.

Question 7:

What do I get for my membership?

Answer:

You can buy either 2 months or 6 months of membership. After that you may choose to renew or not. It is entirely up to you. Membership gives you access to a wide range of 7 Minute Self audios, along with simple instructions and other methods of using them.

Question 8:

Can I pay by something other than Stripe?

Answer:

Currently, the only payment option available on our website is Stripe. We do not accept other forms of payment.

Question 9:

I have not used the audios recently so can I claim a refund for not using them in that time?

Answer:

The terms of membership on the website explains that if a user decides not to use the service for a certain period of time, they are not entitled to a refund because the choice not to use it was that of the user. Users who do not use the tools should simply end their subscription.

Question 10:

I need advice on how to use the tools for my particular problems. Can you assist me?

Answer:

We do not provide individual self help or therapy advice on this platform. It is important to seek the advice of a licensed doctor or therapist for any mental health concerns or therapy needs. Professional help may be needed in order to address any particular mental health issues and to ensure proper treatment. Your well-being is important, and we encourage you to prioritize your mental health by seeking appropriate support and care if needed. There are some suggestions for therapists on our contact page.

Question 11:

I have a technical issue with the website. What should I do?

Answer:

Here is a suggested sequence of steps to follow if you experience problems with the website:-
1. Check our notifications page. This gives an up to date message as to any known or temporary issues which may be going on.
2. Check your internet connection is working and has a stable speed of at least 1mbps.
This can done by opening an Internet search engine and then by doing a search just to see if it is working at all. If yes, then either do a speed test or try to play a video and see what happens.
3. If you connection is okay then you should clear your browser cache and try again. This can solve many problems.
If you do not know how to do this then something such as a Youtube will likely have a video on how to do it for your particular web browser. A search such as "how to clear the browser cache on (NAME OF YOUR WEB BROWSER)" is very likely to help you learn how to clear your web browser cache.
4. Try a different web browser altogether.
Different browsers have different capabilities, characteristics and limitations. They can even handle code differently. This is why using a different web browser may solve an issue.
5. Next try powering off and rebooting your device.
This is because smartphones and tablets in particular are sometimes run for days or even weeks without being powered off and rebooted. Failing to reboot a smartphone or a tablet regularly can cause memory allocation problems, slow running, glitchiness and all manner of other problems. For this reason, a full power off and reboot will often solve apparent technical issues.
6. If all of the above has been tried then be sure to check our notifications page again. If there is an issue affecting all users we will try to notify subscribers of interruptions to service. We cannot absolutely guarantee to do so though since it may not be possible depending upon the time of day, timescales or the circumstances.
7. Finally, wait 30 minutes or so. If there is still an issue then feel free to notify us by email. You can use the contact page to do this

Question 12:

How long should it take to solve a problem?

Answer:

1. If you target a memory or event which feels bad then a single play should typically help to make it feel much better. Some issues may require more but a significant difference is likely to be experienced with just one audio. This is espcially the case when you have had some practice using the tools.

2. Not everyone is good at assessing the strength of their feelings. Sometimes a problem will be solved but it may not immediately be apparent. Therefore after having used a 7 Minute Self Help audio it may be best to let things rest for few hours in order to fully notice the beneficial effects. It is not uncommon for someone to realise several hours later just how much better they feel and that the issue is now solved. This is a consequence of the design of the tool itself because it is designed to work across two time-frames. Each tool for negative emotions is designed to provide instant relief but then also to continue to improve things even further after the audio has ended.

Question 13:

Should I rate the strength of feeling before and after using the audio?

Answer:

For most people this is a good idea, and you will find it easiest to measure your progress. This can definitely help in getting the best results. It will also help you to know when the job is done to your satisfaction.

Question 14:

Should I clear one negative event or problem issue before moving to clear another?

Answer:

It is usually best to work on one thing at once in order to get the best results. In other words, wherever it is possible (and also practical to do so), we suggest to use the tools to properly clear one thing before beginning to clear another. There is no absolute "rule" on this though, so be guided by your instincts.

If you need to repeat the process (and if you are a member) then we advise to use a different audio each time. This variety will help you to get the very most from the process.

Question 15:

I have so many problems I don't know where to start. What should I do?

Answer:

If you don't know where to begin then you would probably benefit from some one to one advice or guidance. This website does not offer that because the tools are provided for self help purposes. There are some professional therapist contact details listed on our contact page.

Question 16:

How does 7 Minute Self Help work?

Answer:

7 Minute Self Help is the result of intensive research and development. It is a unique mixture of multiple elements which psychologists have studied and these are carefully combined so as to produce a very rapid and beneficial effect.

Question 17:

I am a therapist. How do I get a listing on the website?

Answer:

We carefully select the therapists who are listed. If you are suitably qualified and if you wish to be listed, then use the contact page so that it can be discussed.

Question 18:

Do you have a forum?

Answer:

No and this is a deliberate choice for the following reason:

Forums are usually free but by their nature they are comprised of people from almost any background. Some of those people may offer very poor, terrible or otherwise incorrect advice.
If you really need professional guidance in how to use the tools then ask a professional. A good therapist who is skilled at asking the right questions can often help enormously and often very quickly. (See contact page)

Question 19:

Do you intend to add even more tools?

Answer:

Yes. Lots of them. That is the intention. Many more tools are currently under development and the intention is to make them available to members when they are considered ready for the website.

Question 20:

How can I send a testimonial to share my success?

Answer:

You can use the contact page to send a testimonial. If you are a therapist or counsellor then please remember to include your contact details.

Question 22:

Can the creator of these tools do a well being talk for my staff? Is this possible?

Answer:

Tim is expert in many techniques which relate to the mind and enjoys doing presentations. 7 Minute Self Help and other methods can be used for well being and also in order to improve such things as sales and productivity. You are very welcome to ask. If the request is interesting enough then the answer may be yes. You can use the contact page and the message will be forwarded to Tim, the creator of these tools. Please remember to include full details of what you are looking for.

Question 23:

Can I use the Members Area on a laptop or desktop?

Answer:

No. The Members Area is designed as a web app. It is designed for use on smartphones and tablets. It is designed to be so compact that it may also run on a smart watch with a web browser.
